Halloween is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, one of the most popular holidays. While it is less than a month away, there is still time to actually come up with a few tips or tricks (see what I did there?), to use Halloween to drive more traffic to your website.

Halloween Giveaways

Winning something is always pleasant. Everyone loves prizes! A Halloween giveaway will get your followers excited and eager to participate in order to win the prize you are offering. Furthermore, they will spread the word to friends, who will in turn participate themselves in your Halloween giveaway.

Ask your followers to comment on a question, then pick the winner whose answer you liked best. Check out the following prize list:

  • Tickets to a Halloween-Themed Party or Movie

  • A Halloween Costume

  • A Halloween Goodie Bag

Halloween Contests

Contests are always fun. Halloween contests can be super fun! Consider running a scary or funny Halloween costume contest or -why not?- both!

Ask your followers to upload a photo of themselves wearing their scariest or their funniest Halloween costume, (or both, if you decide to run both Halloween contests). Choose the winner who impressed you the most and offer an equally impressive prize. A gift pack of several classic Halloween movies and novels or a gift card to a Halloween store are good ideas.

Halloween-Themed Video

During Halloween, you are allowed to be as scary and funny as you want, and you can use that to your advantage to promote your website. A Halloween-themed video can generate lots of views, which in turn can drive more traffic to your website. Go for a video which will invite your followers to a special Halloween event. Play with eyeballs, cobwebs, pumpkins, cauldrons, experiment with various combinations, let your creativity shine. Or go for a video about a Halloween sale. Pick one of your most popular products or services and offer a 50% discount during Halloween. A video showing spooky Halloween pranks at the office is another good idea.

Halloween-Themed Infographics

Infographics are great ways to convey information in an easy-to-understand, interesting format. To create a Halloween-themed infographic, you will first have to choose the right Halloween theme. People love how-to tips and weird facts, so it would be best to work with these topics. ‘’How to Throw the Perfect Halloween Party", "Dos and Don’ts of Halloween Candy", "Find Your Halloween Alter Ego", and "Spooky Halloween Facts" are some great infographic ideas to consider for Halloween. By being both useful and fun, you will certainly succeed in driving more traffic to your website.

Halloween-Themed Email Marketing

Email marketing is an effective way to reach out to customers. During Halloween, you can get more creative than usual and get even better results.

First of all, feel free to play with your email template. Use pumpkins, ghosts, zombies, cobwebs, spiders, mix different colors, add an audio file with Halloween songs. Create a Halloween greeting card adding a special Halloween promo code for a product/service as well as a Halloween countdown to notify your customers when the promotion will end.

Go for a catchy email subject line. There are people who will open up all their emails no matter what the subject line is, but there are also many (more) people who need a special email subject line to get intrigued. Try something like "50% off for 24 hours! Is it a trick? No, it's a TREAT!","Tips That Will Do the Trick!" or "Screaming Deals for Halloween!"

You are now armed with five powerful Halloween marketing tactics. Make the most of them to drive more traffic to your website and don’t forget to have fun while doing it. Eat, pray, love and be scary!

Happy Halloween!
